A FINANCIAL AID MEETING FOR SENIORS AND PARENTS will be held in the LHS auditorium tonight at 6:00 p.m. A financial aid expert will walk you through the process of completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and discuss scholarship opportunities. It is helpful to bring materials needed to complete the FAFSA form.

ONE-ON-ONE FINANCIAL AID ADVISING SESSIONS are available on Wednesday, February 17; 1:00 – 6:00 p.m. Sign up in Student Services.

ATTENTION JUNIORS: There will be a vote on Thursday during lunch in the cafeteria regarding Prom 2010. All juniors: please take the time to vote. Thank you.

1ST SEMESTER CNA STUDENTS may pick up a copy of the new promissory book in Mrs. Krings’s office or Student Services. The January 2010 book has the new testing requirements.

ATTENTION BAND STUDENTS: There will be no pep band on Thursday or Friday due to schedule changes.

INDIANHEAD COMMUNITY ACTION AGENCY is looking for 10-12 students to help make a video clip promoting teens opposed to underage drinking. Students will have the opportunity to help create, participate or act in the clip. You may also help with effects or assist in the directing. Please see Student Services to sign up. This is an exciting opportunity for any students interested in performing arts, drama, broadcasting, and acting.

FIRST SEMESTER COLLEGE SUCCESS STUDENTS should pick up their journals in Student Services.

THE WRESTLING TEAM AND COACHES would like to thank the band and dance team for their participation in last night’s wrestling match. The wrestlers defeated Spooner 54-21 to raise their conference record to 7-0. Congratulations Jacks!

BOYS BASKETBALL PRACTICE FOR SUNDAY HAS BEEN CHANGED to the following times: A Team is at 12:30-2:00 and the B and C team is at 1:00-2:00 at LHS.

CONGRATULATION TO OUR WRESTLERS who showed great team depth (5 starters were missing due to injuries or illness) in a great match at Northwestern last night. The team defeated the Tigers 34-32 to raise their conference record to 6-0. A reminder to all wrestlers that practice is at 3:30 today.

ANOTHER WIN LAST NIGHT FOR THE GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAMS . The B/C team combined defeated Cumberland 62-31. And the girls A team defeated Cumberland 50-31. Way to go girls!!

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE WRESTLING TEAM as they remained undefeated in conference action with a 48-32 win at Bloomer. Saturday the wrestlers will host the Ladysmith Invitational.

ANNOUNCEMENTS – MONDAY, JANUARY 11


ARE YOU 18 AND LOOKING FOR A PART TIME JOB? The United States Census 2010 has available positions starting in February. Pick up a brochure in Student Services for more information.

STUDENTS WORKING OR DONATING BLOOD on Thursday for the American Red Cross Blood Drive are reminded to turn in prearranges to Mrs. Krings or Mrs. Diamond. If you are donating blood on Thursday, be sure to bring your photo ID, eat a good breakfast, and drink plenty of fluids this week.

DO YOU NEED HELP WITH ANY OF YOUR CLASSES as the semester nears an end? Student Services has a tutor available during study hall times or after school to assist with any of your academic needs. Please stop by Student Services to sign up for a time.

MALES 17 AND 18 NEED TO REGISTER FOR SELECTIVE SERVICE within a month of their 18th birthday. This is a federal law, and those who fail to do so may be denied student loans, job training, government jobs, and driver’s licenses in most states. We want you to have all the facts, take your civic responsibility seriously, and make the most of every opportunity. For registration details, stop into Student Services.

INDIANHEAD COMMUNITY ACTION AGENCY is looking for 10-12 students to help make a video promoting teens opposed to underage drinking. Students will have the opportunity to help create, participate or act in the clip. You may also help with effects or assist in the directing. Please see Student Services to sign up by Friday, January 15. This is an exciting opportunity for any students interested in performing arts, drama, broadcasting, and acting.

PLAY PRACTICE IS TONIGHT right after school for all cast members.

SENIORS ARE REMINDED to turn in Pancake Breakfast ticket money to Mrs. Hamilton by Thursday. All proceeds go to Project Graduation.

THE LHS STUDENT COUNCIL is sponsoring the American Red Cross Blood Drive on Thursday, January 14 beginning at 9am. You must be 17 years of age or 16 with parental consent and meet other guidelines to qualify to donate blood. Please check the Student Council bulletin board for more information or see Mrs. Krings or Mrs. Diamond. The sign up sheet and prearranges are in the library with Mrs Peggar. Give the gift of Life!! Look for upcoming announcements concerning the blood drive.

BINGO : Next Tuesday, January 12, we'll be helping residents play bingo at the Ladysmith Nursing Home. If you'd like to volunteer, complete a school activity prearranged form and turn it into Mrs. Kuehn in Rm 330.

SENIORS: Keep selling your pancake tickets. Sale deadline has been extended until next Thursday, January 14. All money and/or unsold tickets must be turned in at that time to Mrs. Hamilton. The Pancake Breakfast will now be held at the Ladysmith Middle School. Be sure to make the change on your tickets before you sell them and call those you who already purchased a ticket from you.

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE GIRLS C TEAM last night as they defeated Barron 34-31 and the girls A team defeated Barron in an awesome win 53-41. This puts the Jills A team with a 4-0 conference record and 9-1 overall.

THE WRESTLING TEAM raised its conference record to 3-0 with a 42-31 victory at Chetek last night. Great job wrestlers – keep up the good work!

Seniors if you have not been notified about the location change you need to make on your tickets, you must see Mrs. Hamilton, Mrs. Neisinger or Mrs. Peggar. This is very important. THE GIRLS BASKETBALL A TEAM placed 1st in the Lakeland Invitational. They defeated Lakeland in overtime 49-44 and then defeated Washburn 50-34 to take 1st. This leaves them with an overall 7-1 record. Congratulations girls!
