ANNOUNCEMENTS - September 30, 2011


General:
Attention students ordering a class ring: The Jostens class ring representative will be at school Tuesday, October 4th during the lunch hours in the high school cafeteria. Jerry will help you fill out your ring order form and answer any questions you may have. Please remember to bring your class ring order form and your $50 deposit.

The LHS Band is selling T-Shirts and Sweatshirts from now until October 4th. See Mr. Yudes or a Band student for details.

Anyone interested in helping backstage (building, painting, changing scenery) for the fall play, The Almost True Tale of Robin Hood, should sign up with Mr. Nova or Mrs. Lawrence. The first meeting will be held in the auditorium on Wednesday, October 6th at 3:45. If you are interested but cannot attend the first meeting, please let Mr. Nova or Mrs. Lawrence know.

A representative of Teen Court will be in the lunch room on Monday, Oct. 3rd, to share information on Teen Court in Rusk County. Students are welcome to visit the table for more information on this important service for teens.

Ladysmith High School is celebrating Homecoming week, October 3 thru October 7. Each day of the week will have a different dress up idea. Students and staff are encouraged to wear clothing for the theme of that day. Monday is pajama day, Tuesday camo/orange day, Wednesday occupation day, Thursday 70’s workout day and Friday is purple and gold day. Show your school spirit and dress up.

The Homecoming Dance will be on Friday, October 7 from 9-midnight in the LHS cafeteria following the football game. Admission is $7 and dress is semi-casual. If anyone is bringing a non-LHS student to the dance, you must sign him/her up in the library before the end of today.

Homecoming T-shirts are available for pick up in Student Services. Students may pick them up during study hall and lunch.


Athletics:
If you are a senior, have participated in at least one sport, and are a leader in both school and the community you are eligible to apply for the 2011 Wendy’s High School Heisman. Eligible seniors may pick up application information in Student Services. Application deadline is October 2.


Student Services:
The ASVAB test date for juniors has been changed to October 6th.

Juniors who wish to take the PSAT in October need to sign up in Student Services by October 4. Test date is Wednesday, October 12. The PSAT exam helps prepare for the SAT and is the entry for the National Merit Scholarship Program.

Seniors who would like to apply for the $1000 Kohl Scholarship should pick up application information in Student Services. Applicants are evaluated on leadership, citizenship, school and community involvement, and academic achievement. The application deadline is November 11.
