University of Minnesota-Duluth Tour

On January 26th, 26 students from the Ladysmith Health Care Academy attended a tour of the University of Minnesota – Duluth Campus and Medical School. One of the highlights was the tour of the Gross Anatomy Lab in which students were treated to presentations delivered by 2nd year Medical Students through examination of several brains, spinal cords, hearts and kidneys. Health Care Academy students all commented on how it helped so much to see these organs in person as opposed to simply relying on textbook diagrams and models. In addition, the students were led through the pathology lab were the Medical School Students pointed out some of the favorite specimens including different types of cancerous growths and tissues.
