First hour teachers: Please remember to count your students who have dressed for today’s spirit day which is: “extreme weather day”. Return your tally sheet to Shelly Diamond or Cindy Krings on Friday morning immediately after homeroom so the winners can be announced at the Homecoming Assembly.

Tomorrow’s dress up for spirit week is: girls is “fairytale day” and guys will be “redneck day”
Friday is show your school spirit with “purple and gold day”.

If you haven’t already done so, today at 3:30 is the deadline for signing up to participate in the powder-puff football game that will be played Friday on Homecoming. The sign up sheet is located on the student council bulletin board located outside of the library.

Homecoming t-shirts will be available to pick up during your lunch period in the cafeteria today. Your shirt must be paid for in order to pick it up.

Teachers: Today during homeroom students are to vote for Homecoming King and Queen. Please return the ballots to Shelly Diamond as soon as possible. If you do not have your ballots, they are in your mailboxes.

The cross country team traveled to Winter last night and came back with a 4th place finish out of 8 teams. Andi Ostenso continues to dominate the Division 2 runners. The Ladysmith Home Invitational is tomorrow at the T-Away Golf Course. The Girls start at 4:15 with the boys at 4:50. The fun run is at 5:45. Come and watch the cross country team in action.

LMS is selling hooded sweatshirts. Cost is $28 and must be paid when ordering and you have the option to put your name on the back. You will have until this Friday, Oct 1 to order. More information and order forms are in the library.

Any boy or girl interested in ordering a letter jacket, see Mr. Vollendorf in Rm 431.

Juniors interested in taking the PSAT need to sign-up Student Service must do so by tomorrow. The test day is Wed., Oct 13 and cost is $14.00.

The Voice of Democracy Scholarship is open to all students in Grades 9 thru 12. The theme is: “Does My Generation Have a Role in America’s Future?” For more information, stop in Student Services.

Seniors: Be sure to check the window by Student Services for more scholarships. It is updated when new scholarships arrive and some of these scholarships have a deadline to be turned in.

LHS Homecoming Dance will be held from 9 PM until midnight after the homecoming game and dress is semi formal. The cost for admission is $7.00. If you bring a canned food item, the admission is $5.00.

Students ordering class rings: The Jostens class ring representative will be here on Tuesday, Oct 5, during the lunch periods. He will help you fill out your ring order form and answer any questions you may have. Please remember to bring your order form and your $50.00 deposit. A drawing for a 10 karat gold class ring will be held for students who order on that day.

The new Forensics topics have been announced for the Storytelling, Public Address, Special Occasion Speech, and Moments in History categories. If you are interested in these topics, see Mrs. Chopp for specific information.

A very solid team effort was shown by all the Volleyball teams last evening. The Varsity lost 3-2, but played very competitively. The B and C teams lost 2-1in very close matches. Keep up the hard work Jills! The teams would like to thank the Band for playing at our home matches this season. They would also like to thank the students who come out and support our volleyball players.

At last nights cross country meet Andrew Hetke ran a time of 18:27 giving him a 7th place finish out of 85. Joel Wojtyna medaled with a 12 place finish with a time of 19:24. Mitch Livingston ran a time of 19:54. Coming in 4th was Dan Beck with a time of 21:58, followed by Erik Nelson with a time of 22:14. Noland Bullard ran a 24:33 finishing 6th and was followed by Brandon Davila with 25:21. Rob Hanson ran a 29:24. The Jacks came in 4th out of 10 schools. For the girls team, Andi Ostenso ran a great time of 14:55. Brea Daggett came in 2nd running a 20:36 time. Jessica Luckman secured 53 out of 82 runners. Katherine Kester ran a 21:38 time.

There will be a homecoming dance team practice tonight from 6:30 to 7:30 in the gym. Be stretched and ready to practice.

Reminder to those who ordered homecoming t-shirts: The payment of $10 per shirt must be turned into Student Services, Kayla Nyseth, or Tori Ostenso as soon as possible.

LHS Handbell Ensemble will be holding our first rehearsal tomorrow morning at 7:15. You will be gathering to decide on the rehearsal days, get your bell assignments, and get acquainted with the equipment and procedures for being involved in this ensemble. Be on time and let’s get going on the year!

There will be a short meeting for everyone who tried out for Wily Wonka right after school tonight n the choir room. If you are unable to attend see Mr. Novakofski or Mr. Jensen ASAP. This will be a short meeting.


Sprit week is next week and the activities will begin. The dress up days are as follows:
Monday: “miss match day”
Tuesday: “gangster day”
Wednesday: “extreme weather day”
Thursday: girls will be “fairytale day” and the guys will have “redneck day”
And Friday is show your school spirit with “purple and gold day”.
And don’t forget the powder-puff football game that will be played next Friday on homecoming. If you are interested in participating, you need to sign up on the student council bulletin board located outside of the library.
