General:
On Monday, Nov.1, the Middle and High School Choral Music Departments will present their fall concert. You will be entertained by the 6, 7, and 8 grade and the High School choirs as well as the LMS Tone Chime Ensemble and the LHS Hand Bell Ensemble. The concert will start at 7:00 and should last less than 1 hour, giving you time to enjoy a great performance and get home in time for the last ¾ of Monday night football.
The Bear Club is looking for your used printer cartridges and cell phones. This is not only a fund raiser but a part of “Make of Difference” which is a program to help keep the earth clean. Please bring your used printer cartridges and unwanted cell phones to Mr. Bunton’s room.
High School boys and girls: Open gym at the HS has been set up for Sunday’s from 5:00 to 7:00 and Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 3:30 to 5:30. The last day will be November 14.
Athletics:
All athletes and team members leaving for the state cross country meet Friday are reminded that you must get your pre-arranged absence forms turned in.
All runners are reminded to turn in your uniforms and warm-ups. Make sure your name is on every item so you don’t get charged for it.
Cross country runners stop by Mrs. Olson’s room and pick up a flyer for the Award Banquet scheduled for Tues., Nov 2 at the Tee-Away. You also need to let Mrs. Olson know if you will be attending the banquet as they need to know how many to plan for.
Any student interested in joining the Winter Dance Team can sign up in the library through the end of next week. There will be an organizational meeting before the fall break and only students who signed up will be invited. See Mrs. Olson if you have any questions.
Boy’s basketball team: A Nike representative will be in the cafeteria at 3:30 today for you to order your team shoes.
FB Players: if you have not already done so, you need to return all your equipment to the balcony tonight or tomorrow night after school.

Picture retakes will be tomorrow. There are picture packets in the HS office if you need one.
The Forensics Team is sponsoring a HAT DAY tomorrow, Oct. 26. For a $1 donation, you can wear your favorite hat all day in school. This would be a great way to show school spirit, show support for our football team, and help raise funds for Forensics at the same time. You can pay your dollar at the table in the Commons area on Tuesday.

Athletics:
Congratulations to the Cross Country Team for their outstanding performances at the Amery Cross Country Sectional meet last Friday. The boys placed 10 out of 18 teams. Andrew Hetke ran a superb race for a 6th place finish with a time of 18:16. Running well and coming in 32 place out of 112 runners was Joel Wotyna. An outstanding performance was given by Mitch Livingston who came in third place and ended with a 38 place overall with a time of 19:35. Freshman Trey Webb ran a 19:55 followed by Dan Beck with a time of 22:03 and Erik Nelson with a time of 22:56. Andi Ostenso took first place for the Jills at the Amery Sectionals winning her race by a full minute. She will compete at the State Meet this Saturday at Wisconsin Rapids. Katherine Kester came in second place with a time of 20:45, followed by Brea Daggett with a time of 20:57 and Jessica Luckman with a 20:59. Cross Country team is looking for runners for next year, if you are interested, see Mrs. Olson.
Our football team will be traveling to Colby for the playoff game on Tuesday. A fans bus has been set up. If you wish to ride the bus, the cost is $10 which includes the bus ride and your admission ticket. The bus will leave the HS at
4:30. There is a sign up sheet in the HS office and you should pay when you sign up.

The Family & Consumer Education classes would like to thank all the students and staff who supported pink week. We had a generous week selling ribbons, raising $104.50. The money raised will be taken to the Women of Courage event tonight announcing the support we have at LHS. Mrs. Harelstad would also like to thank the students who helped sell ribbons, the volleyball and football teams and coaches for honoring pink week. All of you have made a difference.

High School boys and girls: There will be open gym starting this Sunday, Oct. 24 at the High School from 5:00 to 7:00. There will also be open gym on Mon., Wed., and Thur. from 3:30 to 5:30. These open gym times will run from this coming Sunday through November 14.

Cross Country runners should be dismissed at 11:25 today for lunch. Your bus is leaving at noon for the Sectionals in Amery.

This week is Pink Week at LHS. Wear pink to show your support for Breast Cancer Awareness. Pink ribbons can be purchased in the commons area before school. Cost is .50 and all proceeds will go to the Women of Courage Organization.
Athletics:
Congratulations to the Varsity VB team with their win over Chetek-Weyerhauser last Thursday. The Jills lost to Barron and lost by only 2 points to Bloomer in 3 sets. On Sat., they placed 2nd at the Shell Lake tournament. The team went 8-2 on the day, losing only in the championship match to Boyceville in a very close match.

Congratulations also go out to the Trident on their 114-71 victory over Colby-Abbotsford completing their second undefeated dual meet season. The victory included a new team record for 11 dives 320.4 by Sigrid Stensvold and a one, two, three finish in the 500 free by Sarah Helgeson, Meg McMahon, and Rainee Rogers. There were lots of very solid swims by the entire team. The Trident placed first in 8 of the 12 events in some very tight races. They will have a Conference meet in Lakeland on Oct. 29th.

Congratulations to Sigrid Stensvold and Erin Molstad for their showing at the Last Chance Meet held at EC Memorial. Erin placed 14th and Sigrid placed 3rd in this last official 11 dive meet before the championship season. Sigrid broke the old team record by over 20 points.
Congratulations to the Cross Country runners at last night’s Heart of the North Conference Meet.
Andrew Hetke ran a time of 17:47 landing in 4th place and earning a medal. Joel Wotyna ended in 16th place with a personal best time of 18:40. Trey Webb ended with a time of 18:46 with a 17th place finish and in 18th place was Mitch Livingston with a time of 18:50. Dan Beck came in 31st place with a time of 20:19 followed by Erik Nelson with a 20:58. Brandon Davila ran a personal best time of 22:47. The Jacks placed 4th out of 8 teams last night. From the JV boys team: Nolan Bullard ran at time of 22:51 and Rob Hanson finished with a 26:35. For the Jills: Andi Ostenso beat her own course record last night running a 14:01 receiving a first place finish. Brea Daggett had a time of 19:23 followed by Jessica Luckman with 19:46. Special thanks to all the teachers, administrators, support staff, and students that came to watch or worked at last nights meet.

Students: Currently you have the privilege to take food into the gym during lunchtime. Along with this privilege you also have the responsibility to clean up after yourself. However, some of you are not cleaning up after yourself. If the mess continues, you will no longer be allowed to take food into the gym during lunchtime. So if you like this privilege, show that you can take the responsibility to pick up after yourself and keep the gym clean during lunchtime. Once this privilege is gone, it could be gone forever.

The volleyball team took 1 set each from N/W, Spooner, Cumberland, and Hayward this weekend, but could not get the other 2 wins to secure the matches. The varsity team continues to improve and has just received the 4th seed in tournament play. They will play Hurley at home next week Tuesday, Oct. 19th.
Congratulations to the Ladysmith runners that competed at Tomahawk last Saturday. Andrew Hetke came in 25 with a 18:01 time followed by Joel Wojtyna who came in 44th with a time of 18:47. Trey Webb came in 49th with a time of 19:00. Andi Ostenso ran a time of 14:09 beating the course records and winning the invitational. Jessica Luckman ran one of her best races with a time of 19:55.

Trey Webb came in 49th with a time of 19:00. Andi Ostenso ran a time of 14:09 beating the course records and winning the invitational. Jessica Luckman ran one of her best races with a time of 19:55.
Tomorrow is the Heart of the North Conference Meet for the Cross Country racers. It is a home event being held at the Tee Away Golf Course. The first race is the girl’s varsity at 4:30 followed by the boy’s race at 5:00. Everyone is welcome to come and cheer your favorite runner.

It is an opportunity for students and your parents to visit UW-Barron County to learn about the admissions process and financial aid. You will have an opportunity to attend a class and take a campus tour. You will need to make a reservation in advance so they are able to arrange for a class visit and food. Check out the schedule on the Student Services bulletin board.

It will be an exciting opportunity for prospective students and your parents to visit UW-Barron County and learn about the admissions process and financial aid. You will be able to attend a class and take a campus tour. You need to make a reservation in advance so they are able to arrange for a class visit and food. Congratulations to the Cross Country runners for a fine performance at on a very difficult and hilly Birkie trail system at Hayward last night. Andrew Hetke led the Jacks with a 15 place finish out of 87. He was followed by Joel Wojtyna with a 27 place finish. In next for the Jacks was Trey Webb with a 21:20 time followed by Dan Beck with a 22:17 run. Erik Nelson ran a 22:55 and Brandon Davila had a 23:41 . JV runner Levi Strahm had a 27 place finish . Nolan continues to rock the JV team with a 25:45 time. For the Jills, Andi Ostenso won the race with a 19:52 time smashing the old course record. She was followed by Katherine Kester with a 27:23 time. Finishing next was Brea Daggett with a 27:34 and Jessica Luckman with a 27:38 time.

Count your students who have dressed for today’s “purple and gold day”. Return your tally sheet to Shelly Diamond or Cindy Krings as soon as possible after homeroom so the winners can be announced at the Homecoming Assembly.
Reminder: after the parade none of the buses will be returning to the High School. Buses will load immediately after the parade at the Middle School.
The B & C volleyball teams won their matches last evening. The varsity lost 3 to 1.
The Trident swimming and diving team had a 101-69 victory over Lakeland. This was the most challenging contest this season. The girls really rose to the occasion.
Congratulations to the cross country runners on a great performance last evening. A special thank you to the parents’, teachers’, and volunteers that helped make last night’s Invitational a success. Events from last night included Senior Andrew Hetke finishing 6th out of 144 runners with a time of 17:30. He was followed by Joel Wotjyna with a 18:49 finishing in 31 place and Trey Webb with a 18:51 giving him a 33place finish. Mitch Livingston ran a 19:03 followed by Dan Beck with a 20:12. Erik Nelson ran a 20:42 time and Levi ran a 12:16 for his first race of the season. Brandon Davila ran a 22:20 for the JV squad with Nolan Bullard following with a 22:31finish. Rob Hanson had a time of 27:15 finish.
