General:

For those who have signed up - Shop with a Cop is tomorrow from 8:00 am to 12:00 noon.

Seniors: Your poinsettia orders will be here next Monday, Dec13, and must be picked up that day between 3:30 and 6:00 in the cafeteria.

Seniors: your senior pictures are due by next week Friday for the yearbook.

Jostens will be next week Monday in the café during the lunch period to deliver class rings.

The Bear Club is looking for your used printer cartridges and unwanted cell phones. These items can be taken to Mr. Bunton’s room.

Today is the last day to turn in your Tastefully Simple order for the Dance Team fundraiser. Thank you for everyone who helped to make this fund raiser a success.

Reminder of the Student Council’s Winter Wonderland Dance after the basketball game tonight. Time is 9 to midnight and cost is $4.00. However, if you bring a canned food item the cost is $3.00 per person

Student Services:
Seniors: If you have not verified how you want your name on your diploma, you must by Student Services today.

More scholarships have been listed and deadlines are coming up for many of these scholarships. You need to keep checking the Student Services Bulletin Board and stop into Student Services for more information.

Most colleges and technical schools want applications turned in before January which means you need to have them completed before the Christmas break—time is running out.

Juniors: the ASVAB interpretation is scheduled for next week Tuesday, Dec 14. Students are required to attend the interpretation during your study hall time. If you do not have a study hall, see Mrs. Opelt to arrange a time.

There is a FCA meeting this Friday morning at 7:30 in Mr. Groothousen’s room . Everyone is welcome! We will be making gingerbread houses and sharing the Christmas Spirit!

There is a HOSA officers meeting with Mrs. Krings tomorrow morning at 7:50. It will be held in the Nurses Office.

The Forensics practice schedule is posted on Mrs. Chopp’s door. You need to select your pieces and sign up to practice as soon as possible. You must have your pieces chosen and attend practice before Christmas break, or you will not be able to compete. See Mrs. Chopp with any questions.

Student Council is sponsoring a Winter Wonderland Dance after this Friday’s after the home basketball game. Time is 9 to midnight and cost is $4.00. General:

Seniors: your senior pictures are due by December 17 for the yearbook.

Staff - don’t forget to try the new tastefully simple dip in the teachers’ lounge. The Dance team appreciates all your orders. This Fund Raiser will help fund the Dance Clinic. Orders will be accepted until Friday and will be received before Christmas.

Jostens will be in the café during the lunch periods on Monday, December 13, to deliver class rings.

Six Ladysmith students are participating in the Rusk County Library Art Gallery Exhibit, which will be up until February. Everyone is invited to the public reception today from 4:30 to 6:00 pm at the library. Refreshments will be served.

Students are reminded that if you are leaving early for hunting season, you must do a PA. and turn it into the office before you leave.

Athletics:

Girl’s basketball players: you will have a mandatory meeting tomorrow morning in the library at 7:55.

Congratulations to Sigrid Stensvold and Mariah Stoll for their excellent showing at the State Swimming and Diving meet. Mariah finished as seeded with an excellent 200 Free swim. Sigrid had the honor of placing the highest of any Trident Swimmer or Diver with her 6th place finish in diving. She is the first Trident to stand on the Podium. Thank you everyone for your support.

There will be a follow up meeting for FCCLA in Room 711 tomorrow morning at 7:45. Treats will be served!

The LHS Fine Arts Department will present “The Lilies of the Field” this weekend. Performances are tonight and tomorrow night at 7:30. Cost for students is $5 and adults is $7.

High School boys and girls: This Sunday is the last time for open gym—time is 5:00 to 7:00.

Boys basketball and wrestling practice begins Monday, Nov. 15. Girls basketball practice begins Wednesday, Nov. 17.

There are two scholarships available: The Herb Kohl Scholarship is due today and if you are applying for the Elks Most Valuable Student Scholarship you need to be working on it now as it requires some work to complete and it is due December 1st..

General:

On Monday, Nov.1, the Middle and High School Choral Music Departments will present their fall concert. You will be entertained by the 6, 7, and 8 grade and the High School choirs as well as the LMS Tone Chime Ensemble and the LHS Hand Bell Ensemble. The concert will start at 7:00 and should last less than 1 hour, giving you time to enjoy a great performance and get home in time for the last ¾ of Monday night football.

The Bear Club is looking for your used printer cartridges and cell phones. This is not only a fund raiser but a part of “Make of Difference” which is a program to help keep the earth clean. Please bring your used printer cartridges and unwanted cell phones to Mr. Bunton’s room.

High School boys and girls: Open gym at the HS has been set up for Sunday’s from 5:00 to 7:00 and Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 3:30 to 5:30. The last day will be November 14.

Athletics:

The dancers who participated in the homecoming dance performance should stop by the Health room and pick up your picture and frame.

All athletes and team members leaving for the state cross country meet Friday are reminded that you must get your pre-arranged absence forms turned in.

All runners are reminded to turn in your uniforms and warm-ups. Make sure your name is on every item so you don’t get charged for it.

Cross country runners stop by Mrs. Olson’s room and pick up a flyer for the Award Banquet scheduled for Tues., Nov 2.

Any student interested in joining the Winter Dance Team can sign up in the library through the end of next week. There will be an organizational meeting before the fall break and only students who signed up will be invited. See Mrs. Olson if you have any questions.

You have until noon today to sign up in the HS Office for the fans bus going to Colby tonight. Cost is $10 which includes the bus ride and your admission ticket. The bus will leave the HS at 4:30.


Boy’s basketball team: A Nike representative will be here tomorrow in the cafeteria for you to order your team shoes. Pictures of the shoes and pricing will be posted on the HS Office window.

General:
The Family & Consumer Education classes would like to thank all the students and staff who supported pink week. We had a generous week selling ribbons, raising $104.50. The money raised will be taken to the Women of Courage event tonight announcing the support we have at LHS. Mrs. Harelstad would also like to thank the students who helped sell ribbons, the volleyball and football teams and coaches for honoring pink week. All of you have made a difference.

Picture retakes will be next week Tuesday, Oct. 26. There are picture packets in the HS office if you need one.

High School boys and girls: There will be open gym starting this Sunday, Oct. 24 at the High School from 5:00 to 7:00. There will also be open gym on Mon., Wed., and Thur. from 3:30 to 5:30. These open gym times will run from this coming Sunday through November 14.

Athletics:
Cross Country runners should be dismissed at 11:25 today for lunch. Your bus is leaving at noon for the Sectionals in Amery.

General:

Rusk County Public Health will be offering flu vaccinations at the following locations:
Flambeau School District Thursday, Oct 21, 2010 3:30-6:00 PM
Ladysmith Elementary Wednesday, Oct 27, 2010 3:30-6:00 PM
Bruce School District Thursday, Oct 28, 2010 3:30-6:00 PM
You are encouraged to attend the clinic in your own school district but, if that is not possible, any other clinic can be chosen. This vaccination will protect against an influenza A H3N2 virus, an influenza B virus, and the 2009 H1N1 virus. This clinic is being offered to children from 6 months to 18 years of age only and it is recommended that everyone 6 months of age and older get vaccinated.

Athletics:
The volleyball team would like to thank Mr. Yudes, the band members, staff, and students who came and supported them at last night’s match. A special thanks to the Lumberjack mascot – it was great to see you there.

The volleyball C team will be having a pizza party after school tonight. You should meet in Ms. Raba’s room.

The Trident Swim Team will have a Conference meet in Lakeland on Oct. 29th.

Juniors: Your ASVAB Test is this Thursday. The test will run from 8:15 through 4th period and will be in the cafeteria and the International Students will take this test.

Seniors: Be sure to check the window by Student Services for more scholarships. It is updated when new scholarships arrive and some of these scholarships have a deadline for when it needs to be turned in.
