General:

For those who have signed up - Shop with a Cop is tomorrow from 8:00 am to 12:00 noon.

Seniors: Your poinsettia orders will be here next Monday, Dec13, and must be picked up that day between 3:30 and 6:00 in the cafeteria.

Seniors: your senior pictures are due by next week Friday for the yearbook.

Jostens will be next week Monday in the café during the lunch period to deliver class rings.

The Bear Club is looking for your used printer cartridges and unwanted cell phones. These items can be taken to Mr. Bunton’s room.

Today is the last day to turn in your Tastefully Simple order for the Dance Team fundraiser. Thank you for everyone who helped to make this fund raiser a success.

Athletics:

Meetings, practices, etc:

Reminder of the Student Council’s Winter Wonderland Dance after the basketball game tonight. Time is 9 to midnight and cost is $4.00. However, if you bring a canned food item the cost is $3.00 per person

Student Services:
Seniors: If you have not verified how you want your name on your diploma, you must by Student Services today.

More scholarships have been listed and deadlines are coming up for many of these scholarships. You need to keep checking the Student Services Bulletin Board and stop into Student Services for more information.

Most colleges and technical schools want applications turned in before January which means you need to have them completed before the Christmas break—time is running out.

Juniors: the ASVAB interpretation is scheduled for next week Tuesday, Dec 14. Students are required to attend the interpretation during your study hall time. If you do not have a study hall, see Mrs. Opelt to arrange a time.

General:

There is a FCA meeting this Friday morning at 7:30 in Mr. Groothousen’s room . Everyone is welcome! We will be making gingerbread houses and sharing the Christmas Spirit!

There is a HOSA officers meeting with Mrs. Krings tomorrow morning at 7:50. It will be held in the Nurses Office.

The Forensics practice schedule is posted on Mrs. Chopp’s door. You need to select your pieces and sign up to practice as soon as possible. You must have your pieces chosen and attend practice before Christmas break, or you will not be able to compete. See Mrs. Chopp with any questions.

General:

Last spring LHS was part of a cooperative effort of all schools in the heart of the North conference to raise money for relief efforts in Haiti. Approximately $18,000.00 was raised by the Heart of the North conference. This money was sent to the Servants of All Orphanage in Haiti.
Recently, all schools in the HON received a Thank You letter and some photos showing how some of the money that you helped to raise was spent. The thank you letter and photos are posted on the Student Council bulletin board outside of the library. Everyone is encouraged to take time to read Julie’s letter and view the photos. Thank you again for your generosity.

All staff : Please check out the Tastefully Simple products in the teacher lounge. The dance Team is selling these delicious products to help fund the dance clinic. All orders will be in by Christmas. Any questions, ask a member of the dance team or Mrs. Olson.

Daily Announcements

Sept 17, 2010 ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Juniors interested in taking the PSAT need to sign-up Student Service. The test day is Wed., Oct 13 and cost is $14.00. Deadline to sign up is Sept 30th.

Shanty Town helps to fund the next Habitat for Humanity house in Rusk County. It will be held Sept. 18 & 19 at the Rusk County Fair grounds. More information on how you can participate is available in the office.

Seniors: Scholarships are starting to come in, make sure you stop by Student Services and see what is posted.

Bingo at the Ladysmith Nursing Home has been rescheduled for next week Tuesday—a School activity pre-arranged needs to be completed and turned into Student Services or Mrs. Kuehn.

There is dance practice for the Homecoming performance this Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00. If you have any questions contact Mrs. Olson.

The Trident swimming and diving team had a great start to their conference season with a 145-47 victory over Medford. Sigrid Stensvold set a new school record for 6 dives with a 194.5 score. There were lots of best times and it was a great meet from top to bottom

C Team VB players: your practice for tonight has been cancelled. That is for the C Team only.

Pep Club would like to encourage all students and staff to come and enjoy the football game tonight. This is a big conference match up, so make sure to wear your purple and gold and come to cheer on your team. They are also sponsoring a dance tonight following tonight’s football game. The dance will be held in the Cafeteria from 9 to 12:00 pm. Admission is $3.00 per person. You are reminded that you must bring a student or photo ID (except for Freshmen and new students) and any student on restrictions must have a signed detention pass in order to attend. Concessions will be available.
