General:

The Bear Club is looking for your used printer cartridges and unwanted cell phones. These items can be taken to Mr. Bunton’s room.

HCA CNA students are asked to turn in your uniforms and books to Mrs. Krings ASAP.

Athletics:

Meetings, practices, etc:

The Forensics practice schedule is posted on Mrs. Chopp’s door. Please sign up for a date and time as soon as possible to come in and select pieces and practice. Remember, you must have your pieces chosen and attend practice before Christmas break, or you will not be able to compete. See Mrs. Chopp with any questions.

Student Council is sponsoring a Winter Wonderland Dance next Friday, Dec 10, after the home basketball game. Time is 9 to midnight and cost is $4.00. However, if you bring a canned food item cost is $3.00 per person. If you are bringing a Non LHS guest—you must sign him/her up in the Library no later than Thursday (Dec 9) at 3:30.

Student Services:

Seniors: You need to stop by the library today to verify how you want your name on your diploma.

Allied Health has a temporary position for clerical assistance. Hours are Mon., Tues., Wed., and Friday from 3:45 to 5:30 pm. If interested or for more information, see Mrs. Opelt in Student Services.

A representative from UW River Falls will be here next week Tuesday, Dec 7, at 8:15 in the morning in the career lab. If you are interesting in meeting with this representative, sign up in Student Services.

Seniors: If you are planning on attending a technical school or university, you should be working on completing your applications. If you need assistance, stop in Student Services.

For those who have signed up - Shop with a Cop is Saturday, December 11 from 8:00 am to 12:00 noon.

Check out the Student Services Bulletin Board. You will find information on available scholarships and their due dates. You should check the bulletin board daily for updates and other information.

General:

Health Care Academy students: if you are interested in ordering a HCA jacket, you should see Mr. Bunton as soon as possible.


Athletics:
The volleyball team will play Hurley at home next week Tuesday, Oct. 19th.

Activities/Clubs:
All cast members of the fall musical drama production should pick up a rehearsal schedule from Mr. Novakofski.

Student Services:
Career tours at Chippewa Valley Technical College are now available. The next one is Tues., Nov. 2nd. Check out the Student Services bulletin board for more information.

Reminder that the Campus Preview Day at UW-Barron County is today.

Also, a representative from the UW-Barron will be coming on next week Tuesday, Oct. 19th, to visit with prospective students. He will be in the career lab from 11:30 to 1:00.

Seniors: Be sure to check the window by Student Services for more scholarships. It is updated when new scholarships arrive and some of these scholarships have a deadline for when it needs to be turned in.

SUMMER WORK CO-OP: If you have a summer job and register for the Summer Work Co-op through summer school and fulfill all the requirements, you can earn ½ a credit. Students interested in earning a ½ credit through the Summer Work Co-op need to stop into Student Services and see Mrs. Opelt.

WIAA FREE PHYSICALS: The WIAA free physicals are offered today. Students can pick up letters and information in the library and the front office.

MOUNTAIN BIKE RACE TEAM: Students interested in forming a LHS Mountain Bike Race Team to compete during the 2010 summer season should contact Mr. Bunton for details and attend an informational meeting at 7”55 am tomorrow morning in Mr. Bunton’s room.

CONSERVATION CAMP is sponsored by the Wisconsin Land & Water Conservation Association June 22-25 at Trails End in Bruce. The camp is open to 8th, 9th, and 10 th grade students and the cost is $100. Scholarships are available to help with the cost. Brochures are available in Student Services.

A REMINDER TO ALL HEALTH CARE ACADEMY STUDENTS please return your books and uniforms into Mrs. Krings .

GIRL'S VOLLEYBALL OPEN GYM is held each Sunday evening from 4 to 6 pm at the elementary school. Any girl's interested in playing volleyball are welcome. You do NOT have to be on a high school team in order to participate. Come and join the fun!

SENIORS ARE REMINDED TO GET THEIR SENIOR PICTURE IN TO MR. WAGENAAR by Friday, December 18th. If there any questions, please see Mr. Wagenaar.

ALL STUDENTS ARE REMINDED TO ORDER YEARBOOKS ONLINE . The price is 60 dollars. For information, please see Mr. Wagenaar.

THE LHS DRAMA GUILD will hold additional auditions for their spring dinner theatre production on Wednesday, December 16 at 7:45 am in the auditorium.

FCA WILL BE SELLING ICE CREAM SUNDAES during the lunch today and Thursday, December 17. Cost is $1 each and proceeds will go to the local food pantry.

JUNIORS WHO TOOK THE PSAT need to schedule an appointment with Mrs. Opelt to review your results.

ARE YOU 18 AND LOOKING FOR A PART TIME JOB? The United States Census 2010 has available positions starting in February. Pick up a brochure in Student Services for more information.

THE LHS STUDENT COUNCIL is sponsoring the American Red Cross Blood Drive. This is on Thursday, January 14 beginning at 9am. You must be 17 years of age or 16 with parental consent and meet other guidelines to qualify to donate blood. Please check the Student Council bulletin board for more information or see Mrs. Krings or Mrs. Diamond. The sign up sheet and prearranges are in the library with Mrs Peggar. Give the gift of Life!! Look for upcoming announcements concerning the blood drive.

STUDENTS TAKING THE ACT IN FEBRUARY, APRIL, OR JUNE are asked to sign up in Student Services in order to accommodate for ACT prep sessions. Please sign up as soon as possible.

THERE WILL BE A MEETING FOR BOYS GOLF during the activity period tomorrow in Mr. Hanson’s room.

HCA WILL MEET tomorrow during activity period in the library.
