ANNOUNCEMENTS – WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 17


YOUTH OPTIONS applications for 1st semester of next year are available in Student Services. Juniors and Seniors may take classes through WITC or online if they have successfully completed all the course offerings we have in a particular area. Registration deadline is March 1.

GIRL'S VOLLEYBALL OPEN GYM is held each Sunday evening from 4 to 6 pm at the elementary school. Any girl's interested in playing volleyball are welcome. You do NOT have to be on a high school team in order to participate. Come and join the fun!

COLLEGE GOAL WEEKEND EVENT will be held this Saturday at WITC-Rice Lake, starting at 2:00. This is an opportunity for seniors, applying at any college, to get help completing their FAFSA form. Students and parents are asked to bring your SS# and their 2009 tax information. A scholarship award and other prizes will be given away throughout the event.

KEVIN FALKENBERG, ADMISSIONS REP, FROM UW BARRON COUNTY will be here on Thursday, February 25 during period 5. Be sure to stop by his display during lunch and ask questions about UW Barron County.

THERE WILL BE A HOSA MEETING today in Mr. Bunton’s room during Activity period.

YEARBOOK will meet today in Mr. Wagenaar’s room during Activity period.

JUNIORS AND SENIORS interested in a military career are invited to visit the local armory to learn more about this field on Thursday, February 18. Please sign up and turn in pre-arranges in Student Services.

THE WRESTLING TEAM would like to thank Mrs. Olson and the Dance Team, Mr. Yudes and the Pep Band and all students and staff who helped make last night’s wrestling event a huge success.

SENIORS ARE REMINDED TO GET THEIR SENIOR PICTURE IN TO MR. WAGENAAR by Friday, December 18th. If there any questions, please see Mr. Wagenaar.

ALL STUDENTS ARE REMINDED TO ORDER YEARBOOKS ONLINE . The price is 60 dollars. For information, please see Mr. Wagenaar.

THE LHS DRAMA GUILD will hold additional auditions for their spring dinner theatre production on Wednesday, December 16 at 7:45 am in the auditorium.

FCA WILL BE SELLING ICE CREAM SUNDAES during the lunch today and Thursday, December 17. Cost is $1 each and proceeds will go to the local food pantry.

JUNIORS WHO TOOK THE PSAT need to schedule an appointment with Mrs. Opelt to review your results.

ARE YOU 18 AND LOOKING FOR A PART TIME JOB? The United States Census 2010 has available positions starting in February. Pick up a brochure in Student Services for more information.

THE LHS STUDENT COUNCIL is sponsoring the American Red Cross Blood Drive. This is on Thursday, January 14 beginning at 9am. You must be 17 years of age or 16 with parental consent and meet other guidelines to qualify to donate blood. Please check the Student Council bulletin board for more information or see Mrs. Krings or Mrs. Diamond. The sign up sheet and prearranges are in the library with Mrs Peggar. Give the gift of Life!! Look for upcoming announcements concerning the blood drive.

STUDENTS TAKING THE ACT IN FEBRUARY, APRIL, OR JUNE are asked to sign up in Student Services in order to accommodate for ACT prep sessions. Please sign up as soon as possible.

THERE WILL BE A MEETING FOR BOYS GOLF during the activity period tomorrow in Mr. Hanson’s room.

HCA WILL MEET tomorrow during activity period in the library.

ATTENTION FORENSICS! Sign-up sheets for forensics categories are posted outside Mrs. Chopp's door. Please sign up for the category you're interested in by the end of the week. Everyone needs to do this, even if you've already discussed your choice with Mrs. Chopp. Practice times are also posted. Sign up for a time to come in and find a piece, and remember that everyone needs to meet with Mrs. Chopp at least once before Christmas break.

MRS. CHOPP NEEDS PEOPLE TO WORK CONCESSIONS on Friday to raise money for Forensics. See her to sign up as soon as possible.

THE LHS DRAMA GUILD will hold auditions for their spring dinner theatre production today at 3:45 in the auditorium. If you have any questions see Mr. Novakofski, Mariah Armstrong, or Brittany Thummel.

SENIORS: Your poinsettias will be here on Monday. Your orders will be ready for you to pick up in the cafeteria Monday after school from 3:30 – 6:00pm. You must make arrangements to pick them up during this time. Please remember to tell your parents this information. Monday December 14, 3:30 – 6:00pm.

A UW STOUT ADMISSONS COUNSELOR and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Recruiter will be here on Friday, December 4 during seventh period. Students who would like to meet with the UW Stout Counselor must get a pass from Student Services Friday morning.

THERE WILL BE A STUDENT COUNCIL MEETING on Thursday morning, December 3 at 7:45 in the library.

2009 HIGHER EDUCATION DAY VIDEO CONTEST sponsored by KnowHow2GO Wisconsin and EdVest is open to 7th through 10th grade Wisconsin residents. Individuals or a group of up to three students must create a 60 seconds or less video dramatizing one of the KnowHow2GO Four Steps to College and submit it by December 21 for a chance at winning $1000 for each group member. Stop into Student Services for more information.

IF ANYONE IS INTERESTED IN ORDERING A LETTER JACKET , Chippewa Valley Sports will be here today during lunch hour in the cafeteria to measure and order letter jackets. Girls may order a guys or girls jacket.

MCDONALDS' YOUTH APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM CLASS is cancelled for Wednesday, Dec. 2nd.

HOSA MEMBERS: Please make sure that you have paid your HOSA dues to Mrs. Neissinger in the guidance office by this Friday. HCA shirts are in and can be picked up from Mr. Bunton. The club is asking for $5 for each shirt to offset the cost. The next HOSA meeting will be during activity period on Wednesday, December 9 in the High School Library.

JUNIORS AND SENIORS interested in enrolling in the Certified Nursing Assistant class for second semester and have not already registered need to stop into Student Services by the end of the day Monday, December 7.

VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED FOR DECEMBER 8 AT THE LADYSMITH NURSING HOME. You need to be healthy and have a school activity pre-arranged form turned in to Mrs. Kuehn in Rm 330 by Monday, Dec 7.

MR. YUDES’ 3RD HOUR CLASS needs to report to the library today.
