Attention Football Players, you need to max out in the weight room today right after school Any questions see Coach Keeble ASAP.
There will be a Girls Basketball Meeting Fri. morning at 7:55 AM in the Library. Any girl planning on playing basketball this winter needs to attend this meeting.
All volleyball players should see Coach Peggar on Thur. or Fri. during their study hall or before school.
Just a reminder that all books and materials need to be turned in to your teachers or the cost will be added to your fees and fines. Please clean out your gym lockers.
Student Service:
Student schedules can be picked up in the library during student’s study halls.
Any next year seniors who are interested in designing the 2011 Homecoming T-Shirt should stop in Student Services.

Girls track team members will be having a short awards ceremony and pizza in Memorial Park on Wed. night at 5:30 PM. Please bring your uniforms and warm-ups to turn in at this time.
All students interested in participating in X-country next fall, must attend a meeting on Thur., at 7:45 AM in the Library. Summer running plans will be handed out as will summer fun run dates for June and July. Join cross country!

There will be a MANDATORY informational meeting today at 7:50 AM and 3:35 PM in room 700 about cost, permission slips, and tips on attending the trip. You must attend one of these meetings, or stop in and see Miss Berg in room 700 this week, in order to go on the trip. Bring something to write with!

HOSA state competition was held in Wisconsin Dells on Sunday and Monday. We had 23 competitors that represented Ladysmith Health Care Academy with excellence. Congratulations to all of our competitors for doing an outstanding job.
Four of our competitors took 1st place which qualifies them for Nationals this June in California. Kayla Nyseth and Sigrid Stensvold in CPR/ First Aid. Emily Nelson in Pharmacology. Emily Nelson and Tristin Nelson in Health Education. Congratulations to these individuals.

If you are interested, you could get a shot at serving on the Wisconsin Electric Cooperative Association’s Statewide Youth Board – AND THAT’S NOT ALL – You could even win a trip to Washington, D.C.

Career Valley is held in Eau Claire at the Indoor Sports Center. The event features Military branches, Technical Schools, UW Schools, apprenticeship programs and employers. General:
Picture retakes will be tomorrow. There are picture packets in the HS office if you need one.
The Forensics Team is sponsoring a HAT DAY tomorrow, Oct. 26. For a $1 donation, you can wear your favorite hat all day in school. This would be a great way to show school spirit, show support for our football team, and help raise funds for Forensics at the same time. You can pay your dollar at the table in the Commons area on Tuesday.
The Bear Club is looking for your used printer cartridges and cell phones. This is not only a fund raiser but a part of “Make of Difference” which is a program to help keep the earth clean. Please bring your used printer cartridges and unwanted cell phones to Mr. Bunton’s room.
High School boys and girls: Open gym at the HS has been set up for Sunday’s from 5:00 to 7:00 and Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 3:30 to 5:30. The last day will be November 14.
Athletics:
Congratulations to the Cross Country Team for their outstanding performances at the Amery Cross Country Sectional meet last Friday. The boys placed 10 out of 18 teams. Andrew Hetke ran a superb race for a 6th place finish with a time of 18:16. Running well and coming in 32 place out of 112 runners was Joel Wotyna. An outstanding performance was given by Mitch Livingston who came in third place and ended with a 38 place overall with a time of 19:35. Freshman Trey Webb ran a 19:55 followed by Dan Beck with a time of 22:03 and Erik Nelson with a time of 22:56. Andi Ostenso took first place for the Jills at the Amery Sectionals winning her race by a full minute. She will compete at the State Meet this Saturday at Wisconsin Rapids. Katherine Kester came in second place with a time of 20:45, followed by Brea Daggett with a time of 20:57 and Jessica Luckman with a 20:59. Cross Country team is looking for runners for next year, if you are interested, see Mrs. Olson.
Our football team will be traveling to Colby for the playoff game on Tuesday. A fans bus has been set up. If you wish to ride the bus, the cost is $10 which includes the bus ride and your admission ticket. The bus will leave the HS at
4:30. There is a sign up sheet in the HS office and you should pay when you sign up.
Boy’s basketball team: A Nike representative will be here this Wed. at 3:30 in the cafeteria for y ou to order your team shoes. Pictures of the shoes and pricing will be posted on the HS Office window.

All nuns in the fall play have a rehearsal tomorrow morning at 7:45 in the Choir Room-you must attend.
Members of the Hand Bell Ensemble will have a rehearsal both tomorrow and Thursday at 7:15 to get ready for the fall concert next Monday evening.
1st back stage work day will be tomorrow at 3:45—see you on stage.

Sept 2, 2010 Announcements:
Congratulations to the Cross Country Team on their first meet of the season. Andrew Hetke ran a strong 19:05 and earned a 5th place finish. Andi Ostenso, a first year runner, placed first with a course record time of 14:23. She also beat Ladysmith's 4000 meter course record set by Aysa Sellers in 2008. Junior Joel Wojtyna came in
18th with a time of 20:28 and is continually improving. Mitch Livingston ran 21:54 and Erik Nelson had a time of 23:11. First year runner Dan Becker had a time of 22:13. On the girls' team, Jr. Katerine Kester ran a personal best of 20:39 time and Sophomore Jessica Luckman ran 21:34. The second meet of the season was the Bruce Invitational . Andrew Hetke ran a 19:31 to give him a 17 place finish and Andi Ostenso won her second race of the season. The Cross Country team is looking for more runners. If you want to join it is not too late. Contact Coach Olson or Coach Anderson.
Any lifeguards with a current CPR card and who has period 6 free can sign up to lifeguard for the Adapted Swim. This is a paid position. See Mrs. Olson if you are interested.
All of Mrs. Olson’s Aerobic and Advanced Aerobics classes will meet in the Health Room #720 today and tomorrow.
Any HS student interested in being part of the homecoming dance routine should sign up in the library. The dance will be choreographed to “Can’t Buy me Love” and a student from UWEC will be here to help. Practices will be evenings and Sundays. See Mrs. Olson for details and questions. This is a performance for Homecoming only.
If you are interested in riding the bus to the Lumberjacks vs St. Croix Falls football game tomorrow (Friday)-there is a sign up sheet in the Office—there will be no cost for this bus. The bus will depart from the High School at 5:00pm tomorrow. Come support the Jacks!

ALL OF MR. MARTINO’S CLASSES will meet in the cafeteria today.
ATTENTION FOOTBALL PLAYERS : This is your last reminder of our 2010 Lift-a-thon that will take place this Sunday at 6pm in the weight room. Remember to bring your addresses and be on time. If you can not make it, please inform a coach A.S.A.P. See you Sunday night at 6pm.
PROM TICKETS will not be sold at the door. Tickets must be purchased by the end of the day today.
STUDENT COUNCIL: There will be a student council meeting on Tuesday, May 18, at 7:45am in the library to elect next year's officers. All members should attend.
SUMMER WORK CO-OP: If you have a summer job and register for the Summer Work Co-op through summer school and fulfill all the requirements, you can earn ½ a credit. Students interested in earning a ½ credit through the Summer Work Co-op need to stop into Student Services and see Mrs. Opelt.
CROSS COUNTRY: Students interested in running Fall Cross Country are to sign up in the Health room with Mrs. Olson this week. A meeting will be held the end of May to explain the summer running schedules and summer team run dates. All interested high school runners are welcome to sign up and participate in the summer runs.
WINTER DANCE TEAM: All high school students interested in participating on the Winter Dance Team next year should sign up in the library or Health room. There will be a meeting for all participants at the end of May to explain try-outs, competitions, and 2010 clinics. Please listen for upcoming meeting announcements.
THE MOVIE MAKING PROCESS – EDITING WORKSHOP is Saturday, May 15, 9:00am – 12:00 pm at LHS. The Movie Making Process is a fun, fast paced learning experience that requires creative thinking, active problem-solving and working together to make a movie. Registration forms are available in Student Services.
A MOVIE PREMIERE featuring three short films starring students from Ladysmith, Bruce and Flambeau High Schools and a performance by the Crush Band is Friday, May 14, 7:00-8:30 pm at the Ladysmith High School Auditorium.

SUMMER WORK CO-OP: If you have a summer job and register for the Summer Work Co-op through summer school and fulfill all the requirements, you can earn ½ a credit. Students interested in earning a ½ credit through the Summer Work Co-op need to stop into Student Services and see Mrs. Opelt.
CROSS COUNTRY: Students interested in running Fall Cross Country are to sign up in the Health room with Mrs. Olson this week. A meeting will be held the end of May to explain the summer running schedules and summer team run dates. All interested high school runners are welcome to sign up and participate in the summer runs.
WINTER DANCE TEAM: All high school students interested in participating on the Winter Dance Team next year should sign up in the library or Health room. THE MOVIE MAKING PROCESS – EDITING WORKSHOP is Saturday, May 15, 9:00am – 12:00 pm at LHS. The Movie Making Process is a fun, fast paced learning experience that requires creative thinking, active problem-solving and working together to make a movie. Registration forms are available in Student Services.
A MOVIE PREMIERE featuring three short films starring students from Ladysmith, Bruce and Flambeau High Schools and a performance by the Crush Band is Friday, May 14, 7:00-8:30 pm at the Ladysmith High School Auditorium.
GIRL'S VOLLEYBALL OPEN GYM is held each Sunday evening from 4 to 6 pm at the elementary school. Any girl's interested in playing volleyball are welcome. You do NOT have to be on a high school team in order to participate. Come and join the fun!

PROM TICKETS will not be sold at the door. Tickets must be purchased by the end of the day today.

ANNOUNCEMENTS – TUESDAY, APRIL 27
THE JUNIOR CLASS PROM will be held on Saturday, May 15, from 8-midnight in the high school gym. This year's theme is Once Upon a Time. Tickets are $15 each and can be purchased in the office before school and during lunch starting Monday, May 3. Pictures will be taken by Connie Thompson. Anyone bringing a non-LHS guest must sign him/her up in the office by Wednesday, May 5, at 3:30.
SUMMER SCHOOL APPLICATIONS, including Environmental Challenge and Drivers Education applications, are available in Student Services. Applications are due May 7th .
ANY JUNIOR GIRL INTERESTED IN BEING A QUEEN CANDIDATE FOR THE 2010 NORTHLAND MARDI GRAS needs to sign-up in the library by the end of today.
AP EXAM PAYMENT: Juniors and seniors who have signed up to take an AP Exam in May need to pay the fee for the test by Friday, April 30. If the payment is not received you will not be able to test and you will still owe $15.
THE MOVIE MAKING PROCESS WORKSHOP ; Script Writing Filming and Editing is Saturday, May 8th at LHS. Whether you have a curiosity in the process of making a movie, an interest in making home videos, a desire to engage in the community, or just want a fun and educational experience this workshop is for you. Registration forms are available in Student Services.
AN ADMISSIONS COUNSELOR FROM CHIPPEWA VALLEY TECHNICAL COLLEGE will be here on Tuesday, May 4 at 9:30 am to meet with students who have an interest in attending technical college. If you want to learn more about Chippewa Valley Technical College and its programs, sign up in Student Services to meet with the admissions counselor on Tuesday, May 4.
SUMMER CAMP OPPORTUNITIES AT MARION COLLEGE IN FOND DU LAC this summer include Business Camp, June 20-24 and Criminal Justice Camp, June 21-23. The Business Camp introduces you to the challenges of being successful in the business world; from team-building and group activities, to a simulation of running your own $40 million company. The Criminal Justice Camp participants will discover and practice a variety of techniques from surveillance and hostage situations to crime scene investigation. Registration deadline is May 20. Camp information and registration forms are available in Student Services.

Heart of the North Sportsmanship
The HON Conference released the 2009 fall sportsmanship top 3 rankings for each sport. Ladysmith finished third in golf, second in volleyball, and first in football. Congratulations coaches and athletes keep up the good work.
