ANNOUNCEMENTS
April 15, 2011
General:

Girls Volleyball open gym will be held each Sun. night from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the High School. All girls interested in playing are welcome to attend. Please note the location change!

Any girls interested in signing up for summer volleyball league must do so today before 3:30 PM. Sign up is in the library before school or during your study hall.

Anyone interested in Trident Swimming and Diving 2011 can sign up in the Library. Please sign up today.

Any seniors who have not turned in their baby pictures to Taylor Gappa need to do so no later than today.

Student Services

Juniors that were absent on Wednesday for the junior meeting should see Mrs. Opelt to fill out paperwork and get notes from the meeting.

Attention Sophomores and Juniors see Student Services for more information on this opportunity: Jump River Electric is looking for this year’s sophomores and juniors to represent your school at the Youth Leadership Congress on July 13-15, 2011, at the UW River Falls campus. Challenge yourself with taking part in hands-on workshops aimed at developing leadership skills! If you are interested, you could get a shot at serving on the Wisconsin Electric Cooperative Association’s Statewide Youth Board – AND THAT’S NOT ALL – You could even win a trip to Washington, D.C.

Attention Juniors: Career Valley 2011 is being held on Thur., May 5. We will be taking a bus to Eau Claire. This event brings many business and post-secondary education exhibits to one location. Career Valley is held in Eau Claire at the Indoor Sports Center. The event features Military branches, Technical Schools, UW Schools, apprenticeship programs and employers. Many displays are hands on and offer time to talk with representatives. Sign up in Student Services by April 21.

General:

Girls Volleyball open gym will be held each Sun. night from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Ladysmith Elementary School. All girls interested in playing are welcome to attend

There will be an ATV Safety Class that will be on April 19 and April 21 from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM and April 23 from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. This will be at the Ladysmith Library. Cost is $10.00 per student or adult. You must be twelve years of age to take this class. Adults or parents are welcome. Call 715-532-0282 to pre register.

Anyone interested in working the Manna meal at Hope Lutheran Church next Thurs. March 3l, please see Mrs. Krings. It is a great community service.

UW Barron County will be holding campus tours on Tues., April 5 beginning at 6:15 PM. For those interested, it is a time for both you and your parents to meet faculty and staff, while learning more about academic programs. No need to miss school so check this out.

Seniors that signed the Wisconsin Covenant during your ninth grade year have until April 1 to turn in their paper work to be eligible for a grant offered through the program. If you have maintained a B average throughout your four years of high school, demonstrated good citizenship, participated in your community, completed the FAFSA, and applied to a Wisconsin College you are still eligible. HOSA students participating in State are required to attend a meeting on Wed. during activity time in the auditorium.

The baseball informational meeting will be today Mon., March 21 and will take place in the cafeteria at 3:45 PM before baseball practice begins this evening. There will also be a baseball open gym from 6:30-8:00 PM on Sun., March 20.

Any girls who will be in grades 9 through 12, that would like to participate in summer volleyball league, beginning on Thurs., June 16, can sign up with Mrs. Peggar. You must pay $10.00 at the time you sign up. Come enjoy the fun! All girls welcome!

Seniors, there is an additional local scholarship that has come in. It is open to a senior from Hawkins or has connections to relatives in Hawkins. You must have good grades, really want to go to school and has a financial need, gets along and is helpful to others. Deadline is today Fri., March 18.

ANNOUNCEMENTS – TUESDAY, APRIL 27


THE JUNIOR CLASS PROM will be held on Saturday, May 15, from 8-midnight in the high school gym. This year's theme is Once Upon a Time. Tickets are $15 each and can be purchased in the office before school and during lunch starting Monday, May 3. Pictures will be taken by Connie Thompson. Anyone bringing a non-LHS guest must sign him/her up in the office by Wednesday, May 5, at 3:30.

SUMMER SCHOOL APPLICATIONS, including Environmental Challenge and Drivers Education applications, are available in Student Services. Applications are due May 7th .

ANY JUNIOR GIRL INTERESTED IN BEING A QUEEN CANDIDATE FOR THE 2010 NORTHLAND MARDI GRAS needs to sign-up in the library by the end of today.

AP EXAM PAYMENT: Juniors and seniors who have signed up to take an AP Exam in May need to pay the fee for the test by Friday, April 30. If the payment is not received you will not be able to test and you will still owe $15.

THE MOVIE MAKING PROCESS WORKSHOP ; Script Writing Filming and Editing is Saturday, May 8th at LHS. Whether you have a curiosity in the process of making a movie, an interest in making home videos, a desire to engage in the community, or just want a fun and educational experience this workshop is for you. Registration forms are available in Student Services.

AN ADMISSIONS COUNSELOR FROM CHIPPEWA VALLEY TECHNICAL COLLEGE will be here on Tuesday, May 4 at 9:30 am to meet with students who have an interest in attending technical college. If you want to learn more about Chippewa Valley Technical College and its programs, sign up in Student Services to meet with the admissions counselor on Tuesday, May 4.

SUMMER CAMP OPPORTUNITIES AT MARION COLLEGE IN FOND DU LAC this summer include Business Camp, June 20-24 and Criminal Justice Camp, June 21-23. The Business Camp introduces you to the challenges of being successful in the business world; from team-building and group activities, to a simulation of running your own $40 million company. The Criminal Justice Camp participants will discover and practice a variety of techniques from surveillance and hostage situations to crime scene investigation. Registration deadline is May 20. Camp information and registration forms are available in Student Services.

ANY GIRLS WANTING TO PLAY IN THE VOLLEYBALL LEAGUE THIS SUMMER should contact Coach Peggar and pay the $10.00 fee by Thurs. April 29th. You do not have to be on the high school team in order to participate. All high school girls are welcomed and encouraged to come out and join the fun!! See Coach Peggar for more details.

FOOTBALL MEETING: There is a meeting in the auditorium Wednesday during the activity period for students interested in playing football in the fall.

CAREER VALLEY: LHS juniors have the opportunity to attend Career Valley in Eau Claire on Thursday, May 6. This event brings many business and post-secondary education exhibits to one location. Sign up in Student Services by April 29.
