Music Department Update
One full week into second semester, students in the Folk Instrument class have already begun to play their guitars due to displaying a solid grasp on reading music. The students are currently learning to play "Ode to Joy" with hopefully a performance date of Friday during class.
In Concert Band, senior Bethany Stoll just returned from her fourth year of participation in the National Band Association-Wisconsin Chapter All State Band. The group performed an excellent selection of songs and even debuted a new selection under the direction of current Iowa Director of Bands and former UW-Eau Claire Director of Bands Mark Heidel. Students are currently working on songs for the All Schools and Spring Concerts as well as starting to choose Solo & Ensemble Music. The LHS Jazz Ensemble is going at full force preparing for their over night trip to UWEC to perform at the Eau Claire Jazz festival as well as the annual Jazz Dinner Concert.
Students in our Broadcasting, Engineering and Stage Technolgy (B.E.S.T.)class are busy utilizing a new additional computer/mixing station. Our students have been successful mixing music and making commercials. So far, student have completed and sold two commercials for local businesses that can be heard on radio station WLDY/WJBL. This class will also be finishing a commercial for the Health Care Academy of Ladysmith within the next couple weeks!
