ANNOUNCEMENTS – FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 26

GIRL'S VOLLEYBALL OPEN GYM is held each Sunday evening from 4 to 6 pm at the elementary school. Any girl's interested in playing volleyball are welcome. You do NOT have to be on a high school team in order to participate. Come and join the fun!

SENIORS NEED TO TURN IN THEIR SENIOR SURVEY SHEET to Mr. Wagenaar today. If you need one, stop by Mr. Wagenaar’s room and pick one up.

NATIONAL FINANCIAL CAPABILITY CHALLENGE: Students who have had Personal Finance before are eligible to take the National Financial Capability Challenge; the Challenge was not available last year; however, the year before students did well and received personalized certificates. Students are also eligible to earn a medal for doing extremely well. If you are interested in taking this online exam, please stop in and sign up with Mrs. Titera this week.

ATTENTION HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL PLAYERS: There will be open gym this Sunday and the two following Sundays from 1-2pm. Also, UW Stout is putting on a softball clinic on March 7th. Interested players may pick up forms in the library this week.

QUESTBRIDGE COLLEGE PREP SCHOLARSHIP: If you are a high school junior who has a strong academic record and an annual household income of less than $60,000 you are eligible to apply for the QuestBridge College Prep Scholarship to compete for admission to top-ranked colleges. The College Prep Scholarship awards selected students with full scholarships to college summer programs, an all expense paid campus visit, and an invitation to QuestBridge College Admissions Conferences at Stanford and Yale. Applications are available in Student Services.

ATTENTION SENIORS : According to the criteria for the Fogarty Scholarship, your letters of recommendation can not be written by anyone currently employed by the school district.

SENIORS: your transcripts are ready and may be picked up in Student Services. Keep working on those scholarships. You only have 14 days to complete them!

STUDENTS WITH OUTSTANDING UNSERVED DETENTION will NOT be allowed to participate in Lumberjack Day.

REGISTRATION DEADLINE FOR THE APRIL 10 ACT is March 5. Juniors who have not previously taken the ACT should register for the April test. You may register on line at act.org or you may pick up a registration packet in Student Services. The next test date is June 12. Juniors should take the ACT prior to the fall of their senior year.

Students there will be a Science ACT Test Prep on March 17 during periods 7 & 8. The Math ACT Test Prep will be on April 8 during periods 6 & 7. Be sure to stop in at Student Services to pick -up your ACT Test Prep packet.

Friday, March 5 is Lumberjack Day. See the bulletin board outside of the library for the sign-up sheets for the games, competitions, and activities. Get your teams together.

Congratulations to both the boys' and girls' basketball teams for their victories last night.

There is a pep assembly today at 3:00 PM for our state bound wrestlers and our basketball teams as they prepare for tournament play. The pep band, dance team, and cheerleaders will be performing.

The Indianhead ATV Club Scholarship application is available in Student Services. Pick up your application today.

THERE WILL BE A SHORT MEETING for all spring play members right after school on Tuesday in Mr. Novakofski's room. It will be short, but you must be there .

Congratulations to the Flambeau Area Swim Team (FAST) for a very successful CWSC Conference Championship Swim Meet. With 14 teams for all over Wisconsin and over 450 swimmers it was a big and fast meet. Team FAST placed 3rd overall and the coaches were very pleased with the results. Our girl's team took first overall by over 150 points!

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE WRESTLING TEAM WHO DID A GREAT JOB Saturday at Cameron in winning the Division III Regional Championship and qualifying nine individuals for the sectionals on Saturday! Tonight the wrestling team will compete in the team sectional in the Ladysmith gym starting at 6:00 p.m. Come support our wrestling team as they try to earn a trip to the Team State Tournament.

GIRLS SOFTBALL AND BOYS AND GIRLS TRACK SIGN UP is in the library. All interested students should sign up before the end of today..

Stop into Ladysmith Federal on Monday, February 15th for the kick off of this new program.

THE AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY GIRL SCOUT ACHIEVEMENT AWARD is available to girls who have earned the Girl Scout Gold Award and are a high school junior or senior. Application deadline is April 1. Applications are available in Student Services.

THE JILLS DID IT AGAIN! The B/C team combined last night to defeat Chetek 44-37. The A-team put the Bulldogs back in their dog house by defeating them 45-34. Way to go Jills you are now 16 wins and 2 losses.

Be sure to watch the Lumberjack wrestlers at Cameron as they begin state tournament competition tomorrow.

FORENSICS had a fantastic night at Sub-District competition in rice Lake yesterday. Everyone put in a lot of effort and 23 qualified to compete at Districts next month. Please congratulate all team members if you see them today, and recognize them for their hard work. THE LADYSMITH GBB C TEAM defeated Cameron last night, 45-11. The B team defeated Hayward 29-21. Congrats on a 13-3 overall record to the Jills A team defeating Cumberland for a second time 48-31. Way to go to all the girls basketball squads.

A REMINDER TO THE FORENSICS TEAM: Our first competition is coming up on Feb. 9. This is just over a week away. Be sure to practice over the weekend. Also, there will be no Forensics practice tonight.

THE JUNIOR CLASS PROM will be on Saturday, May 15. It will be held in the high school gym. This year’s theme is Once Upon a Time with pastel colors and the song, “You’ll be in My Heart.”

INDIANHEAD COMMUNITY ACTION AGENCY is looking for 10-12 students to help make a video clip promoting teens opposed to underage drinking. Students will have the opportunity to help create, participate or act in the clip. You may also help with effects or assist in the directing. Please see Student Services to sign up. This is an exciting opportunity for any students interested in performing arts, drama, broadcasting, and acting.
