Feb. 23, 2011

All students in Period 6 Aerobics remember this week is enjoy the outdoors week. We will be either snowshoeing or skiing. Remember coats, hats, mittens and boots.

Remember that compatibility quiz you took a couple of weeks ago? Well, the results are in! You will be able to purchase your matches this week Feb. 22-25 before school in the lobby and during lunch in the cafeteria. Cost is $1.00 for matches just in your class, and $2.00 for matches from the rest of the school. Bring your money this week and find out who you’re matched with!

Student Services:
More scholarships have been listed and deadlines are coming up for many of these scholarships. You need to keep checking the Student Services Bulletin Board and stop into Student Services for more information.

Seniors, local scholarships are open and due on March 10. This is a great opportunity to get financial assistance towards your college education. Stop by student services to get help and application material. Remember recommendations are required for many of the scholarships so make sure you are providing them with plenty of time to get the necessary forms completed.

Students remember the deadline for Youth Options is March 1.

The Bear Club is looking for your used printer cartridges and unwanted cell phones. These items can be taken to Mr. Bunton’s room.

General:

All students in First Semester aerobics and advanced aerobics make sure you turn in your lock with the combination and your name. If you do not turn in your locks you will be charged $10.00.

On Wed. Jan. 26, in homeroom you will be filling out a SHORT questionnaire about yourself and then about two weeks later you will have the opportunity to find out who are your top ten matches in the school. It’s as easy as uno, dos, tres. Look for the posters around school for more information.

Student Services

Freshmen and Sophomore grade students interested in learning about health care fields should apply to participate in Medical Discovery Days on Mar. 3 and 8. Participants will tour CVTC and Rusk County Memorial Hospital where they will meet professionals working in the field, explore a variety of careers and participate in hands on learning. See student services for an application. Cost to attend is $10.00 which includes a T-shirt and meals for both days. Deadline is Feb. 1.

There will be an ACT Test Prep on mathematics Feb. 2 during fourth hour. Students must sign up in Student Services to attend this session. Be sure to bring your ACT Test Prep packet and have the math portion completed prior to Feb. 2.

The Rusk County Community Foundation has (3) $500.00 grants available for a project which will fill a school or community need. The deadline for the application is Feb. 11.. See Student Services for the application.

Juniors and Seniors: CVTC will have career tours available on the Eau Claire campus on Feb. 15. Stop by student services to see what tours are available or for more information.

General:

FCCLA is selling candy grams. Think of that special someone you appreciate or someone you would just like to send one to. FCCLA is selling candy grams for .50 and they will be for sale before and after school until next week Tuesday. You can also stop in Mrs. Harelstad’s room to purchase the candy grams. You can write a message to include in the candy gram and it will be delivered to the person you purchased it for. All proceeds are going to the Children’s Network.

Athletics: Congratulations to the LHS Wrestling Team on their 1st Place finish at the 16-Team Husky Invitational at Eau Claire North on Saturday, December 18, 2010.

All X-Country runners remember to sign-up to work concessions for this Tuesday, December 21 for the BBB game. Parent helpers need to call or email to sign up.

Classes: Aerobics Period 2 and Period 8 – remember your hats, mittens and coats this week for X-country Skiing.

Most colleges and technical schools want applications turned in before January which means you need to have them completed before the Christmas break—time is running out.
